Wiindscreen smearers...

So this isn't unique to my Disco but I've never really found a good answer to the question. What's the best way to sort out the windscreen/wipers having that horrible smear particularly visible at night in light rain. I've gone through all sorts of window cleaning over the years and never really found an effective way. Additives to the water bottle don't seem to shift the smear either.

In the case of the Disco it's 2000 miles and 4 months in so it's not new wiper time just yet.

With the years of experience here what's the best solution folks have come up with, glass polish? Newspaper and water? cleaning the blades and screen weekly? Mr muscle windows cleaner? Something else?

Not rocket science I know but a little thing that drives me nuts Smile

I clean the blades regularly and also the screen - just using water and washing up liquid.
Some car shampoos that I have used can cause smearing so I think the detergent nature of washing up liquid breaks down the wax (or whatever it is) on the windscreen - also AutoGlym Aqua Wax - great on paint, nightmare on glass if you overspray.

A good quality truck wash or tfr as they call it. Dont use cheap stuff some is so caustic it will damage the paint and in direct sunlight could etch the glass.

I buy the blue screen wash from Halfords, wipe the blades with vinegar and also the screen, it will do the trick 100%.

Vinegar and newspaper.......or Bar Keepers Friend mixed into a weak paste Thumbs Up
I had wood and coal residue from my chimney which stained the glass on my Velux windows....nothing touched it,but a bit of elbow grease and the Bar Keepers friend shifted it.... Thumbs Up

Is there any post where you can't include food or a wheelie-bin ? Laughing

My ability to find food associated is inversely proportional to recent scoff intake. Just had lunch (toast, ham & coleslaw) so not so good at the mo. Mr. Green

Now wheelie bins, that's the voices in my head that take control of the keyboard. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry
