Quite an emotive headline that... destroyed, really? They were clearly wrong to do it, but what part of nature have they actually destroyed?

Reading some of the comments around the various news page and forums, the One Life, Get One brigade firmly believe it's their right to "just have fun, innit"and anyone who says otherwise is a jobsworth. I'm delighted that feckless scum like this continue to breed like vermin and are able by sheer weight of numbers to vote in policies that continue to reward their stupidity.

Me, I'd use a hammer on their reproductive organs, but I'm old fashioned like that.

I agree, the water/mud bit they were (trying to ) wade through looks OK to me.

Were they charging about being stupid, that would put a different slant on it?

It's amazing how Nature recovers from a few tyre tracks now and again!

I'll come and do doughnuts on your lawn then. I've as much right to have my fun on your lawn as these donors had to rip up a nature trail.

It'll recover Thumbs Up

If they destroyed fences or wildlife or just simply this isn't designated as somewhere you can legally drive then it just gives the anti 4x4 brigade more ammunition which will ruin it for the rest of us. Do people never learn!

Certainly not condoning what was done but that posting on southport.gb.com really gets my goat. Show a picture of the trail in summer 2013 covered in lush grass and no mud. Then show a picture of it now looking all muddy and battered. Of course, the wettest year on record, the fact it is only just spring and the fact we had a record summer last year don't have any bearing on how those two photo's represent the trails. FFS Evil or Very Mad

No doubt the idiots who did this are just that, idiots but they aren't representative of the 4x4 brigade so it annoys me when "do-gooders" post stuff like this, with biased content or twisted facts, which is what i'd describe those before and after photo's as.

Rant over Smile
 Cheers,

Gareth

Although we can all say it has been very wet this winter and all will rectify itself, we need to protect our rights to use our off-road vehicles in a proper manner and not damage the countryside.

I have seen idiots destroy much in my other hobbies of shooting and horse riding. The former I now restrict to clay pigeon shooting, the latter I have seen many bridleways closed for disrespectful riders straying of designated pathways onto farmland.

We enjoy what we do, do-gooders are a pain, but it is also their choice in life to protect what they see fit to do so.

There is always good and bad in all walks of life, lets hope there a few who disrespect the countryside we all love
