Whisper.
Welcome to the site, I'm assuming you're the same Swindon Whisper that would know me from Rib.net
It does depend on what spec you want, but I'd say yes, especialy as I know you're capable of fixing most of it yourself when it goes wrong.

Gonna sell my D2 and go for a D3 but I don't really want my pants pulled down over the price or the condition etc.
We drove one on sunday and loved it, so just need to find the right one now

Short answer: yes easily, disco mikey commented in a thread not long ago about some he had been watching on ebay that sold for sub £10k, some of them sold for sub £8
It depends what spec and year you want but shouldn't be too much of a struggle to find a worthwhile D3 for that price

Someone mention my name?
Yes, you can find one for under £10k. However, buy wisely.
A cheap D3 can bring all sorts of unexpected costs, and heartbreak, as many on here have suffered. If possible, take someone along who knows about cars, or if possible, someone specifically who knows about D3's to check it over properly My D3 Build Thread

Yes you can. I bought mine last year for sub 10k. It is an S spec so doesn't have all the fancy gadgets or nav but has air suspension and terrain response and is still absolutley brilliant. It had 110k miles when I bought it and a good service history. I have spent about £800 on it so far (bushes, brakes service etc) and will need to spend a similar amount in the coming year but will still be under the 10k mark Dave Neil

I looked for months hoping to get a decent one for under 10k but there was always summit not rite or wasn't the spec that I wanted ie sat nav, leather. Etc or they had moon miles. I'd say pay a liitle extra if you can and get one that's got extras and service history and even had the belts done.

I bought my Disco 3 for £9200 back in January and since then I have spent circa £1k on getting it fixed up (I knew this would be the case).
After having the bits done to it, I love the way it drives, so smooth and effortless. Had the EGRs blanked which made a massive difference.
I will be selling it shortly due to wanting a Range Rover Vogue. (Just an itch that needs itching)
Prices vary so much on these, it can be quite off putting.
