Auto gear box sticking
Hi
Can anyone help please ?
My Disco 3 auto gearbox is sticking intermittently, when it does happen it is mainly in 1st and 2nd gears, on acceleration after slowing for traffic lights, roundabout etc.
To begin with it would go up to 4000 revs before changing, I took it to my local mechanic, who plugged it in for an upgrade (it needed two), at first it seemed ok, but tonight it was sticking again but this time not changing until 4000-5000 revs.
Has anybody got any ideas as to what the problem is ?
Fingers crossed that its something simple ( and cheap !!).

Thanks for your help.
Robbie, is that something I can do myself ?
I have updated my profile, maybe it takes a while to show.

You can certainly check that the tyre profiles are correct and at the right pressures. Comparing the wheel-speeds takes a diagnostic tool with live data, such as an IID Tool. Geoff could do this for you too.
Without a vehicle or diagnostics to look at there is no guarantee that your issue is related to wheel speeds, but our thinking is that the gearbox may be holding the gears because it thinks it is cornering. This mode is designed to keep you safe but if the sensors report a speed discrepancy it can trigger the corner mode when accelerating down a straight.
Your profile now has your location but not your car details.

Tyres all ok, and I will try break switch.
Does the Disco 3 2005 HSE Auto have a gear selector sensor or something that tells the car which gear it should be in
It drives fine in manual, just doesn't seem to know which gear to be in when accelerating in low gear.

Took it to my local mechanic and he thinks it could be a torque convertor problem ??

Is the steering angle sensor and yaw sensor used to hold gears too?
