Wheel Spacers

Anyone got any pics & details?

I think I want some, but not sure how wide to go....

I'll be sticking with 255/55/19s, it's purely for asthetics...

Thumbs Up

Can I ask why 30mm front and 25mm rear, obviously have an interest having agreed to buy the set of 30mm ones?

Thanks

Beanie,

The only reason I went with that combo is that I was going to buy some Hoffman ones from TBR 4x4 , as I had previously bought some for a Shogun I had, they are nicely made and v expensive.
Anyway, when I asked them about the Hoffman ones for the Disco , they said the Hoffman recommendation was 30mm front and 25 mm rear.

So not wanting the D3 to look like Carlos Fandango and his mighty wide wheels, or have issues with clearance on articulation I ended up sticking with their recommendation on the differing widths.

If you look at the pics of mine, or any standard D3 , the fronts sit marginally further out anyway, but having fitted mine I think there is plenty of space for 30mm all round, it's only 5 mm after all , and my rears sit slightly inboard the arches compared to the fronts, though mine haven't seen any serious articulation so can't comment on that bit.
Plus all the sellers on flea bay, Terrafirma etc , they all sell them as sets of 30mm Thumbs Up

I'm running 3mm spacers on the front to clear the rims and you can't see any difference so the extra of the 30mm all round shouldn't be obvious either Thumbs Up

Do you find it handles better and flatter, more stable with them on?

Handling wise it is hard to say, logically it should and must I guess be better, but with the weight of the vehicle and the height etc, it's never going to be cornering flat.
I don't hang about generally and she gets thrapped at some point on most journeys, the weight of the beast generally helps keep it from moving around too much, but then also helps it move and then some when lateral loading overcomes grip Laughing
So in a word, I would be telling porkies if I said , yes it's transformed it, as it hasn't .
It is certainly no worse, but the road surfaces around me are generally garbage with regards cambers, wheelings etc, so I just don't take any notice any more.

Wheel spacers are illegal here. Never did understand why.

Any more pics of other sizes/variations?

Do 30s all round rub on standard size 19s at full lock and/or full articulation?

I am guessing that to achieve the German TUV approval then all variations are tried, and as the spacers are not sub model specific, as in , they are just listed as D3 fitment , this I assume means ( could be wrong obviously ) that this is the ideal size for the vehicle and all the various standard fitment wheel combos .
Mine is on standard width 19's with no issues on lock, can't vouch for articulation but the various other posts cover the whys and wherefores of the spacers width.
I wouldn't go wider than 30 mm if that is the query, they would look ott and stick out past the arches, any less and there wouldn't be much point.
