Currently Broke Down!
So here I am stuck in the 2nd lane of a dual carriageway...
My battery light came on so whilst in traffic I summoned the secret screen so I could check on the battery voltage. It was up and down the whole commute, lowest I saw was 9v up to 11v.
Eventually the screen went off and more lights appeared on the dash to tell me that anything electric wasn't working.
Then all of a sudden, whilst at low speed, clunk! The EPB comes on. I popped the vehicle into park, it died instantly.
Now when I turn the key the ignition just clicks at me! All the symptoms of a flat battery, but I wonder if it could be an alternator problem?
What a start to the day!

Deffo sounds alternator to me - the biggest rub will be that it has probably stuffed the battery in the process

Unfortunately I needed to be on this lane... It was start stop traffic and the carriageway splits left/right less than 200yrds from my current position! Had lots of angry faces stating at me dice I made the already bad traffic at this junction much worse!
As BigDave says - disconnect the battery ASAP to hopefully save it.
New alternators are like hen's teeth, so good luck in that respect.

Not to hijack your thread but how do you get to the secret screen that shows battery voltage? I'm having an issue with heated seats and it would be interesting to see how the voltage plays out and what it shows when the seats finally kick in.

Don't trust the secret screen as the voltage indicated is woefully inaccurate.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

After getting my Disco towed to the garage I bought it from only a week ago, they've said to me that they'll change the alternator & battery free of charge under their one month warranty policy!

Lots of members have reported problems after fitting after-market alternators from ECP. Just one example here:
It's now the end of February and I would hope that Denos are more readily available in the UK again now. Contact Steve (Boringoldgit) to see what the latest is on these.
