I have searched the forum but cannot find a definitive answer.
The Cigar lighter in the front, am I right that it does not power a standard 12v device and that the socket needs changing to do this? If so can anyone suggest a replacement as "auction" sites are not helpful on this topic.
Basically Im after a solution to plug the dash cam into and hide it behind the dash. happy to leave the old socket on show and have the replacement out of site.

When I wired my Blackvue in I got one of THESE and wired it directly to the fuse box and kept it tucked away behind the lower glove box so that the wires can be concealed Cheers Ian

Mark, another way is to get yourself one of these: Switched Cigarette Plug and plug it into the left hand cig lighter. Run the cable up behind the H trim and fit one of these to the other end: 3-Way Socket. You'll need to cut the plug off and wire it directly to your switched plug.
There's enough room behind the H trim to hide everything away and you have a couple of spare hidden sockets for other devices, sat nav etc. with the added advantage of being able to isolate the power if you need to.

It's probably still working.
I had a USB type device that just didn't seem to have any output but another cheaper Chinese one worked perfectly. Try testing the socket with a meter as some USB devices seem a bit sporadic. Mods:
