timing belt
Hi,
just done timing belts and all has went well, until I looked at the old front tensioner and have began to have second thoughts. What do you line up in the window on the black part with the Alan key in it. I have used the raised line, but looking at the old one there is also a stamped number and a u shaped hole. Being an HGV mechanic I don't normally do timing belts. Have just done 175 miles and all ok so far. Just very worried now.
The raised bit on the inside should line up with the little window on the black front part of the tensioner. be careful when you tighten it up as they can move .. As in the picture below

Thanks for that. I can semi relax now. Heart has stopped every time you get a bong coming from the car since looking at old tensioner. Does this ever go away or just part of owning a discovery

My sat nav bongs the same as the d3, gives me the every time I pass a speed camera.

Worst thing about the colder month is the unnessasery bong at 4 degrees. Normally perfectly time to be in the middle of nowhere!!!26 and on the 4th LR..
