EGR Valves - blank, replace, ignore?

Just had a service on my 2005 2.7TDV6 and fault codes showed both EGR valves are on their way out - showing increased voltages on both. Whilst I'm a reasonably competant mechanic, a knackered back doesn't allow me to do a lot of work at the moment - and probably not for a while and TBH the days of spending whole days doing very fiddly and inaccessible jobs doesn't appeal anymore. But the £500ish cost of getting both replaced by a garage isn't an option atm.

Is it worth blanking them as that appears somewhat easier and what benefit does it bring? (No DPF fitted according to the VIN) Or should I just ignore it and not worry about it?

I'm going to do the MAP sensor clean this week and I'll give the two stroke oil a run as well, but I know these won't help the EGR's.

I've read various threads on this and there seems to be some conflicting advice.

Cheers.

On a 2005 model get them blanked without a doubt the best way forward.

Thanks guys - will the failing EGR's cause any warning lights over time?

And does anyone know anywhere near Croydon that can do the blanking? Otherwise I will have a go myself if I can reach far enough into the engine bay.

I have the same issue and have ordered a blanking kit from Bell Autos - was thinking of replacing them both as I like to keep things original but the cost of the parts was much greater

I'm not handy with screwdriver let alone blank a egr valves lol

I've had no faults come up but seems best to get it done.

Well what a result! Did the MAP sensor today and noticed there were no EGR pipes where they should be. Looked up the BAS blanking instructions and it looks like one of their kits has been fitted already by a previous owner. Nice!
