My alternator packed up early Dec and after 3 different ones fitted to the car it is still needing preheating with a Bell Auto controller to start it properly in the mornings.
I have forgotten what its like to just get in my car and start it and go!
Its like getting steam up on a coal fired train
Hurry up Denso

Still unavailable from Denso but it sounds more like you need a set of glow plugs - have they been tested? Paul Redding

I assume so but i dont know, problems started after original alternator failed (battery light and burning smell). Then when started from cold the engine would gently rev and dashboard power would fade in and out with it ( obviously undriveable). Once it gets warmed up a bit everything is fine.
Garage put in 2 new LR alternators then Bosch one , think they said alt' voltage output was high. Evidently Autologic said they had seen a spate of this lately and it was down to circuitry on the alt'. So I/we have been waiting for a new batch of rectifiers (or whatever it is) to be made, shipped and added to some new Denso alternators
Any advise is welcome ( well i say any...)
