Not such a bad outcome considering you have some cover, you will be glad that it's over now a drawn out affair like that.

Now for the next problem Confused

the next problem ??

I hope not : preventative measures over the last year have included :

new battery
new alternator (last one failed so not really preventative)
all calipers, discs and pads replaced as part of V8 upgrade (yes: all new calipers)
Damn good flush by Geoff. following DIY oil change.
Steel g.box sump and oil change mod
Dr Tranny
Diff's transfer box oil changes,
full service as I didn't trust the indi I bought it off had done it.
roof box, rails etc
ladder : don't go there, sore point.
tailgate mechanism before the old one gave out.
EGR blanks
All new tyres and new alloys and tyres for winter set.
rear pdc speaker, loom and all sensors
as many software updates as it could handle, Geoff. again.
new front suspension arms
central locking fix
one new key complete and coded
odds and sods of trim
Wood effect LR dash kit (hardly preventative but nice)
2012 sat-nav disc
rear cluster as some plonker reversed into a pole when the pdc was duff.
side steps so I can get in easier (before DSD reminds me of my height)
new arch as some plonker ran over one when it was off during a pdc sensor fix
New front windscreen as it started to crack, the heated one !

loads of other bits that I can't remember including shiny stuff, de-tango, lighting upgrades, assorted LED's, machine polishes, de-badged, and a loft full of stuff to fit including TV, etc. etc etc etc

At least you have came out with it all back up and running again. It's surprising what goes wrong with one mans diff . Even if the oil levels are ok. One mans have been pulling heavy loads 200,000 mile without issue. Yet one mans lower mileage car has issues where it's completely mashed.
