stop valve

Hi

went to my indie today for oil change. Told him to reset the service indicator and check for any possible registered faults.
He told me that the "stop valve" at the brake pedal gave (sometime in the past) a fault. He also told me that the function of this valve is double - enable stop lights and give info to engine management, most probably the second function gave the fault....

any idea??

do you know the part number of this, etc??

cheers
