Constant fan roar SORTED
After having my air con re gassed last week at the AF event I have been getting the fan roar you normally get first thing in the morning but near enough all the time. I'm also getting what sounds like a fan belt screech as I turn off engine. Both these symptons occurred immediately after the re gassing. Any thoughts on why this is happening, would be nice to know as its beginning to annoy me

It will be the ECT sensor... You guys are gonna be busier than a test bench in a plunger factory!

Roar can be that your rad or intercooler fins are blocked and need cleaning ....or the screeching may mean that the fan bearing is on its way 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Like I said both symptoms occurred immediately after re gassing. Air con worked fine before and didn't do this before.

Fan roar is usually the ECT sensor failing and is a pretty common fault. The aircon working properly has probably taken it from a latent failure to one you can just about detect.
Cheap and easy fix though.

That's interesting, I had never heard of this problem before.
But last week, I noticed I had the loud roar from the fan as well, and the engine temp never climbed much past 1/4-1/3 of the gauge after about 1/2 hr of driving. It's usually right at 1/2, never budging.
Mind you, the temp was about -20C .
It occurred to me after I got home that I could have checked the viscous fan speed with the IIDTool. However, it hasn't happened since that time.
I just put it down to the really cold snap we've been having.
