Both key fobs will not open central locking. Help please. :) |
|
I have owned my 2006 2.7 Discovery 3 with 99 000 miles for about a month and a half and have had no problems until now.
The keys fobs have worked fine until the last week or two.
It completely stopped working, no unlock, lock or the other multi function bottom button, I've been having to open/lock the car from the hole behind the plastic on the passenger side.
But then tonight I tried the fobs and they both worked for about 10 locks and unlocks then both stopped working at the exact same time.
The lock and unlock button on the dash works fine it unlocks and locks as it should.
No errors are shown and the dash does not say low battery etc.
When the fobs work they work from a good distance away.
The one thing that it did do was on one key the lock button locked as it should but the other one sounded the horn as if a door was a jar but the other just flashed the hazards as normal. On other occasions they both would lock fine.
It's has no sunroof as I've read the sunroof can leak and corrode some wires but I've ruled this out as I've no sun roof, I don't think the fobs are the issue as they both stop and start working at the same time and they work from a distance away.
It's seems to be in intermittent fault but it is faulty more than it's not.
Any help is much appreciated, thank you.

Do a search for wire splice on the passenger side of the car under the door sill and check this out as this is most common fault with your error.

No sunroof doesn't = no leak! is the carpet dry in the pass footwell? Could be the batteries in the fobs. Comm issue. Also I had an issue that a hard reset fixed, I had a delay in opening locking.

I'm going to have a look tomorrow and find the 3 green wires, and to see if it's damp as well.
I was reluctant to think it was the key fob batteries as they both started to work and stopped working at the exact same moment I was trying them both at the same time then they stopped working.
Is a hard reset just basically disconnecting the battery and reconnecting? Does this cause any issues radio codes, key fob programming etc?
Thanks for your help it really is appreciated.

Hard reset pro is on here if you search for it, basically wait for car to go to sleep, disconnect battery, wait 2 mins, short live and neg cables for 5 mins and then reconnect.
