Reclaim the gas, vac properly and then recharge properly. A regass can from halfords say, does put gas in the system, but does not get rid of the air, they never tell you this in the sale bumpf. Thus, you'll get cold air but the system has air in it. Not good. You remind me of a younger me, not much younger mind...perhaps even a little older!

Looed at an old comparator, r134a, r12 and r49 all have similar evaporating temperature pressure relationships, so realistically, no, you shouldn't notice any difference.
