when changing your transmission pan and filter you need to raise the transfer box AND raise the right hand side of the engine by 35mm to be able to remove the old pan (because of the stem on the filter) and fit the new one.
For the life of me, I cannot see where one is supposed to raise the right hand side of the engine! Can anyone help with a photo or picture of some kind?
If I hadn't already bought a plastic replacement pan I would go with the metal one 2005 Discovery 3 2.7 TDV6 HSE (Auto)

Hey Dan
Thanks for the response - Im not sure how I ended up posting on disco4.co.uk when I meant to post on disco3.co.uk!! Unfortunately those pictures don't show the lifting of the engine, only the lifting of the transfer box. Im thinking the engine lift is WAY tougher - but am hoping to be pleasantly surprised
Thanks again2005 Discovery 3 2.7 TDV6 HSE (Auto)

or you could upgrade the pan filter to a metal one found in the BMW X5, same box, then break off the old one....easier to fit and only need to change the filter inside on every oil change

Undo the R/H engine mount, and jack up the engine where the bellhousing/block are bolted together. You will probably need to find a block of wood long enough to go up through the chassisMy D3 Build Thread

hello everyone,
old post but just to share my experience. I bought also a plastic pan from ZF (filter included). I followed the recommendation by disassembly the right handle engine support and tried to raise it with a lift without success.... unfortunately I had to change the oil but not the filter :-/
I forced a lot on pushing upward both engine and transfer case without any move on engine side. I gave up to avoid damaging anything on engine side... so lesson learnt, buy a metal pan with separate filter :6)
