Rev needle jumpy with cruise control activated
Hi,
Travelling up from Cardiff at the weekend and my 05 plate HSE when I had cruise control activated, sometimes the rev needle seemed to rise and fall (not a great amount) quite rapidly. Is this is an issue or is it just the system adjusting revs to maintain the speed. Car idles no problem and steady, but not sure whether maybe the acceleration etc js very sensitive. Only just picked the car up and been driving a merc auto for 3 years, so I'm used to how that drives etc.
Any thoughts or info much appreciated

Does not sound right. Did this happen on the flat or just going up or down hill?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Was hard to tell on the motorway as the hills are very gradual. It did run for long periods pretty steady, thought maybe it was a case of it coming up a slight hill and adjusting the revs to cope but then cutting them when it levelled off?
It does seem like the accelartor pedal is quite sensitive, or am I imagining it?

It's worth getting your fault codes read. The gearbox does alter its performance when the cruise is set (cruise mode) which is designed to prevent nuisance locking and unlocking of the torque converter clutch and to minimise shifts. As such, early faults may appear in cruise mode ahead of regular driving, but this could just be an oil issue.
I'm a massive fan of gearbox oil changes, regular and often. If this has not been done then consider a mega-flush that uses dialysis to replace all the gearbox oil. There are additives that allegedly work wonders but I have zero experience of them and they give the ZF man kittens.

My rev counter has been jumping around for ages. No difference in performance, just jumps up and down, sometimes working, sometimes not. Mine's a manual, any ideas??

Gearbox Megaflush
Hi Mikey,
Is this a service you offer and if so, what would the cost be?

If you're not fast...
I will be offering this very shortly. Have to get a few things sorted out, then will be getting my hands on a Megaflush machine. Best bet is to keep an eye on the forum for an announcement My D3 Build Thread

Mikey,
I'll def keep an eye out. In the meantime, is leaving the car running like this going to cause any major issues?

Sorry to be pest, but I've just noticed some of the stuff on your signature that I might be interested in. Would you be able to give me prices? Namely the fault diagnostics and the 3 flash indicator mod?
