'56 D3 engine system fault after booting it |
|
Coming back through France yesterday - I was overtaking a lorry on a hill and had to floor it. Engine system fault and loss of power - Parked up and read 6 faults on the engine ecu - 2 x p00404 Exhaust gas recirculation control – circuit range/performance, p140D Exhaust gas recirculation control circuit B range/performance, 1 x p2290 Injector control pressure too low and one other that I didn't note. I cleared them and all was fine for the 300miles home. It was the most I've ragged the car in the 6 months I've had it. Any Ideas? PS the EGRs are blanked 2006 TDV6 HSE Wrapped Matt Black STOLEN NOT RECOVERED

P2290 - Injector control pressure too low - This for me was the start of a failing Low Pressure Fuel Pump ( the one in the fuel tank) - thankfully not that expensive!
Having said that, have you checked the big hose on the left hand side of the engine bay for splits? Are you getting any excess smoke when you boot it? 55 Plate TDV6 HSE Bonatti Grey, Cool Box, D4 Bluetooth, Side Steps, BAS EGR Blanking, V8 Discs, Polybush Dynamics, SNOTM, Three Flash Indicators, HIDS4U LED Sidelights, Replacement Clock Spring, TSL, Auto Box Flush + Dr. Tranny, BAS Remap IIDTool V2.18

I have the same thing on my D3 2008.... engine system fault and sudden loss of power when i floor it. The LR ids software listed a fault , which i don't recal the no. but the describtion had to do with turbo pressure..... i've switched off the engine for a minute and restarted and it drove fine at a steady 90mph but when i tried flooring it the same happened..... the pipe to the inlet from the intercooler is ok and there is no blck smoke when this happens.... i've also noticed that the engine revs are not steady as i drive at around 2000rpm enevthough my foot is steady on the pedal.... although the car drove well after the reset the engine system fault did not leave the display...... i will read the fault code again and post the no. this time.
Is there a place where i can look up these fault code nos. and waht they mean?????
Thanks

My Low Pressure pump was changed at 56k by a main stealer I'm now at 84k so hopefully it shouldn't be that - Would a dodgy Fuel filter gives similar symptoms? It'll be the cheapest thing to replace - that and the big intercooler hose (which looks ok at the top to the eye, but has that fabric round it so I'm guessing its original? and I've not looked at the bottom near the intercooler yet so could have a split that only shows at the mo under real load? 2006 TDV6 HSE Wrapped Matt Black STOLEN NOT RECOVERED

I've had cars with the split intercooler to manifold pipe and they always gave black smoke on acceleration so i don't think this is your case. I don't understand why the fuel filter is not changed every service in the UK - i always change them as a precaution but probably because we have poor fuel quality in our country..... it's not that expensive especially if you buy an OEM from Britpart (idenctical to LR one)

That's interesting about the intercooler cos when I got back to the car in the intermarche carpark the day before the bumper had been cracked and the bottom of it pulled forward as is some French idiot had reversed into me in the car park with a tow bar on and caught the underside of the bumper, pulling it forward - I'll have a look now if there's any damage to the IC. 2006 TDV6 HSE Wrapped Matt Black STOLEN NOT RECOVERED

Same problem on my 05 a month or so back. Low pressure fault recorded as with yours. Kept losing power with ESF when the car was booted...first step was to change fuel filter and since that its been all good.

P2290 was the fuel pressure control valve faulty on mine, and its part of the high pressure fuel pump, and so the pump was replaced - about 350 quid for an exchange version on the euro 4 engine (its a different pump on the euro 3 engine), and open heart surgery to replace it as it right at the back of the V of the engine, so needs new rear belt and pulley whilst being replaced (80quid for those bits)
