I might be wrong, but i don't think it's an easy one to get to.
Also, i think this is the fault code that Bodsy got when his oil pump casting sheared off, dropping the cambelt, causing complete engine failure.........Sorry
If this is the case, i suggest you PM Bodsy for advice, as he's just had a new engine courtesy of LR
What year is your car, 07 or 57 by any chance?

Just looking on the repair manual the camshaft position sensor is behind the LH EGR valve. You will need to remove the EGR to get to it.
Hope this helps

An 08MY... Not looking good
As said, it is behind the LH EGR valve. Pretty sure you dont need to remove the valve, but you do need to take out the 3 bolts holding it to the engine. With them out, I think there is just enough space to get the sensor out My D3 Build Thread

John, that was the same error message that my previous engine had after the oil pump case broke and relapsed the timing belt tensioner.
My guess is that the car was fine and then just stopped....? Am I right....?
I and some others on here have had a replacement engine from LR because of this issue.

I had my camshaft sensor replaced on my old D3 by my local garage.
I beleive it was a pig to get to.
Can't recalll what the problem was leading up to it though. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Cheers Bodsy....when this happened to you did it dump oil everywhere? I've not lost a drop? What reg was yours when you had, and what was the main body of the argument with LR?
Final answer to your question, I was doing 70 down the motorway, lost all power but engine kept running and below idle reeves, a bit of spluttering as if it was misfiring. If I put my foot on the accelerator it didn't even rev. Once it stopped and I turned off it then wouldn't start again. Once a Disco, always a Disco...and I love my Disco

The other thing about your oil pump casing, is this something i would be able to see or only when they dug in deep looking?
Cheers everyone, I'm just trying to narrow things down myself before spending either too much or too little wasting time or stuff like that Once a Disco, always a Disco...and I love my Disco

No oil leaked, no.
I was on dual carriageway and whilst I was driving it came up with errors and no power. Rev counter looked as though it was about 500rpm, but when I managed to pull over, there was no engine running at all.
More info here on others as well.

To get to the timing belt, you need to remove the viscous fan and the aux belt, easy enough to do, then remove some pipework connectors for the water, then remove the timing belt cover.
It should be instantly visible if it has broken. Bodsys Brake Bible

Sort of sounds like mine but I no error warnings or anything and when I pulled over the engine was still running but spluttering
Gives me another clue though, and thanks for the link to the thread I'll be looking at that too!
Could you PM me a bit snout what was said to LR for the engine change, in case it is the same thing? Once a Disco, always a Disco...and I love my Disco
