Absolutely brilliant idea. I'ts probably beyond my skill set to complete but if someone were ever to offer one as a complete or partially completed kit I'd be all over it.

That's the first mod my wife has ever commented on. Unfortunately it was followed by the comment directed at me, "Why can't you be that clever?" So I'd be interested if you can get one to work with the GG AT and if you can come up with mod for getting the stupid cable out of the wheel I'd be really pleased. Excellent mod. I think there would be a market for these as the spare is a constant source of irritation to those of use who carry lots of stuff in the backPrince Harry's D3: G4 factory equipped D3 - expo rack, winch, roof lights, ladder, active locking rear diff, RAI, Melville & Moon seat covers, General Grabber ATs/ Goodyear Duratrac

I know this is a really old post, but this is really something I would like to do, as emptying the boot so that I can lift the seats to access the spare inst ideal.
Any more people done this modification or have any more details on the best motor to use?2010 Disco 4 HSE

Remember seeing this post back in the day and thought what a great idea but in the end i used the mechanism that sets the winding position further back. I think its called a windomatic IIRC?
I just have a socket, ext and ratchet permanently on the nut so i never have to unload or lift the seats etc to get at the winch bolt. Prob not as good as electric but still solves the unloading situation D4 HSE Lux MY16 Club Waitomo

Done some google investigation, and all I can seem to find is Vileda WindoMatic!
I have ordered a sunroof motor off ebay for a few quid so might have a winter project on my hands, and if all that fails I will look at the option of moving the nut further back...2010 Disco 4 HSE
