LR005737 or VPLAW0080 Snow Traction System? |
|
(post updated with better title!)
Hi all,
We have a trip planned shortly where snow is likely. An initial search through this fabulous forum has me thinking Spikes Spider Alpine (with adaptor) as a cost effective alternative to the official Discovery Snow Traction system LR005737.
However, it appears LR have released a new version VPLAW0080.
Would anyone have any insight to the pros and cons between these different versions or which product LR OEM'd as VPLAW0080?
Thanks in advance! MY13 D4 HSE Causeway Grey with Black Pack.

So, a bit more research and I found some of the info I was after....
LR005737 is currently between £500 & £600 from LR suppliers or for the same Spikes Spider Alpine inc adaptor kit, Amazon have them for £394
VPLAW0080 is £643 from LR and I've seen them from dealers for £566. These appear to be an OEM of Thule K-SUMMIT XXL K67's which are ~£440RRP but Amazon have listed for £318.
The K-Summits appear to be less expensive, which is good, but does anyone else have experience using them? I've been told the Spikes Spiders can scuff the wheels (to be avoided!). Has anyone seen the same with the Thule K-Summits?
many thanks
ABH. MY13 D4 HSE Causeway Grey with Black Pack.

Welcome ABH...
I have the Spikes Spider kit, which I carried through the Aosta valley, but didn't use last month.
If you would like to see it please ask.
It seems very quick to fit once you have fixed the adaptors.
