Meta Tags
I have just learn't two new words Meta Tags. I am sure all of you apart from me and possibly RLD have heard the words before, but we are catching up.
A knowledgeable friend who runs some massive web sites suggested that the meta tags on the site needed boosting up a bit to grab all. He is interested in advertising on site to help, but said it has to have a higher profile first, i.e more customers. His products work world wide, not just in the UK or Europe.
So the point of this post is to assist Martin in ideas for them. No matter what anyone does and Martin has done a fabulous job, someone else can come up with more ideas for names and that is what may be helpful.
So get suggesting those of you who understand what the hell they are.

Aaah now we've got you, don't know what a meta tag is......how do we explain to a layman...mmmh!...suffice it to say a website shouldn't be without them
I'll give it some thought and see what relevant words I can come up with and I'm sure some of the others will too.2004 Discovery 3 - gone

The guys I know said the site is fantsastic, but lacks some clever tags. I don't have a clue, they said to look at their, so I will let Martin know when he returns.
<META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="Land Rover, Land Rover Discovery 3, Discovery 3, Disco3, Disco 3, 4x4, Banter, Off Road">
<META NAME="description" CONTENT="The best Land Rover Discovery 3 site">
Basically they're picked up by search engines so they can categorise the site so when you search for 'Discovery 3' it should show up in the search resultsThe End

2007 Discovery 3 XS - gone

There's no limit on what can be added, so anything vaguely relevant can be included.
If everyone posts their suggestions Martin can use the ones he wantsThe End

Well if anyone is silly, it only ruins it for the benefit of the site and will be scrubbed I should think.

Deeerr lost your sense of humour today, whatever anyone suggests Martin will choose whatever he feels are most appropriate and dump the rest anyway 2004 Discovery 3 - gone

Meta tags are good, but they're not the way this site would come top of a google search on "Discovery 3" - it's down to quite a number of factors, which change to stop people ensuring their site(s) come top. See http://www.google.com/intl/en/webmasters/4.html

"What are Martin's meta tags and page titles? That does make a bit of a difference. Not much, but some. "
"We love Google. Everyone over here uses Google. How can we get Disco3 up on the results when you search for Land Rover LR3?? What are Martin's meta tags and page titles? That does make a bit of a difference. Not much, but some."
"If you have a webpage that links to Disco3, make sure you also include ‘LR3’ so Google relates the two. "
"Im sure others have an idea… lets hear it! "
"Lets find a way to boost disco3.co.uk "

Not offended at all. As far as I was aware, the country forums are only for region-specific issues, and there don't seem to be too many of those. Even the discussions about changing the 'LR3' to Discovery 3' rear stickers have proved to be relevant and interesting to many UK posters.

Tim, thanks for that. I haven't a clue about these things, possibly why I didn't pick up your earlier post (may have been through the banta and all that ) but it was what I was trying to say.

Tim,
Post away... your always welcome to (as said in another thread) and its good to get the US perspective on things... you may have issues crop up and be resolved over your way when we are struggling over here to get them sorted. If we tell LR that the US customers have had this done they they should do the same for us - and the other way round.
