Hi there, I am thinking of buying my first D3. It has the above milage on the clock but it does also have full LR service history. It is silver at the moment but I do believe it was battenberged at one time, i.e owned by the Highways Agency. Do you think it would be a good buy at £8,500 . I have experience of Disco 1s doing in excess of 300,00 miles. What do you think? Cheers Paul.K

Go for it, it will have been looked after. Probably spent 99% of those miles at steady 56mph in lane 1.
Character on here has ex HA D3 which is on its way to 600,000 miles (the bodyshell is mostly original )
I think the engine did nearly the 500,000.

Thanks for that guys, I thought the same that it would have been looked after by the book, well it would have been more than their jobs wurf. I have also spotted another one closer to home with LR history nd only 100,00 miles so I think I may go for that but thanks for your help, it is just that I have heard such horror stories about the Disco 3 but then you should never believe everything you read. My old bus has 15ok on the clock. I wouldn't worry about high mileage, its how its been looked after that counts.

You don't say what year or model it is or if it comes with any warranty, but regardless unless it is 08+ with that milage it is well over priced. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I've got a deposit on a V8 D3 that I'll be collecting next weekend, with just over 120,000 on the clock.
I have every confidence I could put another 100k on it and not have any major concerns. The issue with bigger mileage vehicles is that things like coolant systems/suspension refresh/etc will need replacing. This is usually offset in part by a cheaper purchase price.
Always buy on condition. If its in good condition and has full history, you can hope its been well looked after.

When I buy another D3 , I'll be getting a high mileage. The higher the better .
The market still seems to be reluctant to buy vehicles over 100k miles , so some good bargains to be had.
When my D3 demised at 150k, it was running as well as it did when it was new Duncan

Hi DiscoDunc, what caused the dimise of yours at 150,00 miles ? Was it a RTA or a catastrophic mechanical failure? Cheers Paul.K
