if the second hand ecu had been previously calibrated you do not actually need to
calibrate the heights

but you need to program ecu as NEW MODULE Thumbs Up

(it cant be just swapped)

do you mean that the suspension warning comes from the incorrect VIN!?

i use the nanocom evolution!

thx, martin

No idea bud I have never used it..

But all I did was to write a copy of my normal heights to the new ecu and then sync the ecu's with the ipack and all was good.

Your red error is not because of the vin number its because it needs to be calibrated..

see i never used FM but not denying its procedures just because SDD uses different procedures

so when i am saying program it as New Module in SDD also speaking from experience

and IT IS a case of reprogramming ( changing a VIN and ride height values)

is it not ?

According with the SDD procedures, these are the steps when you configure a new module on RLM:

"SA_ReplaceModule_01"
"GA_BatteryVoltageCheck_01"
"SWDL_ST"
"SA_SuspCalib_02"
"SA_DTCClearRead_01"

So, you see, after a firmware update to the last and correct version, a calibration is performed.

As per VIN, in general, all ECUs have a default procedure (0x0404) that could be run for learning the VIN.

Isn't this a case that the Nanocom is not yet in a place to do all the work yuo need it to?

Based on Flack's experience with the MSV and also the baby bro Nanocom, I would think the processes are similar, but that the Nanocom cannot yet Body Control Module?

Just a thought

if you are coding brand new ecu indeed

but if you are coding second hand one as new

sdd gives you option do or not (you can skip ant it will use stored values)

it is probably the case, that the new nanocom does not have all the required features yet.

but it is anyway important to me to understand the required steps, procedures, goes&no-goes, etc.
as i will go to my LR on tuesday to get it hopefuly fixed and i do not know if they are experienced with reprogramming, etc. as they told me on the phone that they do not even know if the vin of a used ecu can be changed, etc....!

so, thx a lot for all your help and dont hesitate to go on with your experiences, ideas, tips, etc.!! Thumbs Up

another day with a non-working disco and where i have to go to the mountains for skiing in our lupo! Bow down
lucky having a volkswagen at home too! Rolling with laughter

been to the lr dealer today:

they did a successful calibration, everything looked goog so far, red warning was gone, etc.!
then the guy raised to offroad modus, then extended modus and during this the car lowered the front down to 400mm distance between hub and wheel arch and the rear side was raised to 600mm!!!! looks like a hotrod now!!! Shocked
red warning turned back on again, and terrain response was off, etc.!!!
they did a complete new try but without success!!!
still a hotrod!!
after nearly 3hours playing around we stopped it and decided to buy a NEW ecu and hopefully get everything sorted tomorrow.
they called an expert at LR if it is possible to use a second hand ecu and the guy said that it might work, but there is no guarantee!!

it is/was an expensive experience!! Evil or Very Mad

Old post indeed it is, Just experienced this Vin mismatch on a 2006 RRS
This vehicle has been tuned, adjusted, face lifter, and lowered by Arden i think it was.
The owner had a susp. fault and it was the eas module coroded to ecu heaven due to water ingress from a-pilar / Sunroof, he fitted a used module and it gave him the red eas fault. but the susp. worked perfectly, he got tired of that ipack sound so he ripped the buzzer out.
He asked me to have a look at it, then i did see Flack's "guide" I did so, but the vin never changed.
I had to use a cracked version of SSD to make it work, and so it did. Eas fault gone, no red eas fault and no sound from the ipack.. Kinda strange hearing any sounds from the ipack, even the turning indicator sound is gone!!
Dont know why the FM could not tranfer the vin to the used module, bus SDD could.. Strange..

Mr.P
