Ride height harness repair

After a bit of poking about i found that one of the wires from the front driver side height sensor had broken. After a bit of shopping about i found that you could buy a repair kit for the harness but what i am not sure of if its ok to disconnected the plug and repair the wiring with out losing the suspension settings. Any body had any experience with this? Confused

Yep, did mine without affecting it, only a sensor change theoretically needs recalibration. I also fitted a new sensor later on which didn't seem to require calibration, which was lucky as I had another wiring fault preventing me from doing that!

Always put the car to sleep and disconnect the battery before any wiring repair.

No soldering iron required, it's just crimp connectors, but you'll need a heat gun for the heat shrink.

If just a wire is damage could you just not splice one in rather than buying a harness repair kit?

Its is broken right at the connector so nothing to solder it on to unfortunately! New one ordered here tomorrow! Do you have to disconnect both batteries?

This is not a part well publicised by LR for some reason Whistle

For reference, the part number is YMQ503220. The kit comes with a new connector, pre-wired with 3 wires, red, blue and yellow, 3x crimp terminals and 3 bits of heatshrink

They do not always correspond to the wire colours on the car, so care should be taken to ensure they are re-connected the right way

No need to disconnect the battery to repair the height sensor wiring, but be aware that the car may try and self level when unplugged, so support with axle stands.

Repairing the wiring will not require anything to be recalibrated, or codes cleared Thumbs Up

I think disconnecting power for a DIY chap is always the way ahead.

All comes down to ability, and experience. If in any doubt, disconnect the power Thumbs Up
