The car should be put into TTM, alignment carried out, taken out of TTM, steering sensor calibrated, then road tested to make sure the wheel is straight My D3 Build Thread

There are not many alignment places that have the facilities to put into TTM, re-calibrate the SAS, AND align it all in the same place.
I know most places in Dundee won't touch D3/D4/RRS 4 wheel alignment, due to this.My D3 Build Thread

What I posted is the correct way to do an alignment.
In all honesty, TTM is not required. A big deal seems to be made over this, which is not really necessary. Set the car to normal ride height, open a door to stop the suspension moving, and align the car. Re-calibrate the SAS, and road test.
If the steering wheel is not central, re-adjust the front toe, recalibrate and road test again. My D3 Build Thread
He's not able to put it in to TTM. Worth getting your bushes checked before getting it aligned. There is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes.

I had a similar problem a few years ago on my D3. I told the LR dealer to straighten out the wheel after he'd done some work on the suspension, which he duly did.
All was well for a few days driving on local roads, then I headed to Wales for a weekend. Once the D3 was on the motorway for a few miles the car went into limp-home on lowered suspension mode. I pulled over, reset the systems using the old lock-unlock seven times trick and headed off again. After a few miles it did it again. I drove from Leicester to Wales on lowered suspension. Grrrr.
After a few phone calls 10ForCash told me that it was caused by:
1. The steering wheel had been "manually" turned to make it look "straight"
2. The rest of the car though it was still turning right
3. On a motorway, the wheel sensors expected the wheels to be travelling at different speeds to each other (as the car thought it was turning) but as the car was really going straight, then they were all going at the same speed.
4. This made the computer think it was in a fault and therefore shut up shop and went into limp-home mode.
Took it back to Stratstones, who sorted it out properly (eventually).
I mention this as it's something to consider when fudging the steering wheel around.
