Oil sump pan replacement

Hi there,

Would appreciate some advice.
I am looking to change the oil sump pan on my Disco3.
Has anyone done this? What will I need?
I am guessing the following but please let me know if am missing anything:

- New pan (not sure where to get from - none online - dealer?)
- Gasket
- Gasket sealer
- New bolts?
- Filter
- 6 litres of oil (presumably land rover oil?)

Any help is much appreciated.
Did do a quick search for already-existing threads related to this but couldn't find any.
Cheers,
Ben

hi,

before i bought it i think the undertray was missing. the pan has rusted, and is becoming porous so oil is starting to leak slowly out of it.

cheers

I had this on my S a few years back.

The great, and much missed TFC, diagnosed and replaced a failed sump gasket.

First he had seen.

Best of luck chap.

Thumbs Up

Will PM you at some point today Thumbs Up

Hardest part of changing the sump is getting the undertray off!

Once off, drain the oil.
Unplug the sensor on the side of the sump
Undo all the bolts, 13 of them in total, IIRC
Sump will come down.

Quick wipe of any excess oil, refit sump with new gasket.
The bolts can be very easy to cross-thread, so be sure they will all go in by hand
Make sure the sump plug, and temp sensor ar tight, and reconnect the sensor wiring
Fill with oil, run upto temperature, and check for leaks

Can also give Advanced Factor service kits a big Thumbs Up
Used them a few times in the past, with no issues. And he sends you good Castrol oil
