Fluid Loss and slight Burning Smell
For some while now when I turn the car off there is a quite a strong smell of burning coming from under the right hand front wheel arc (similar to the smell when oil get on the exhaust).
This morning I took looked under the car and there is some kind of fluid leak as it was visible all over the underside and some fluid had collected on the sump guard.
It is not engine oil as very light in colour, I had a good look under the car but cant trace where it is coming from other than the right hand side somewhere high up in the engine.
Could it be coolant? as I have had to top up twice in the last to weeks and it sort of looks that colour if so does this leave a slight oily resudure?
I have recently changed the intercooler hose, alternator and had a gear box flush carried out.
I think is is a stealer job but would like to have some idea before a fork out another Euro 1,000+
Any help would really be appreciated.
Getting a bit hacked off with car now as it has cost me a fortune in the past 3 months Club Narpy Torch

Loss of coolant might suggest that's what's leaking out, however it's not oily, the transmission fluid is though and it's a similar colour, it could just be a slightly loose pipe clip on the oil cooler, top right side of the radiator, (facing ther from the front.)Clive

Thanks crwoody and ronster,
I had a good look this morning and checked the gearbox pipes at the top they are not leaking (phew)
Also where some of he fluid has leaked onto my parking space it appears to have evaporated a little so I am hoping its not oil.
Alsso before reading the reply, I topped up with coolant and drive about 50 miles last night and it had used a little when I looked this morning.
However couldn't find the Thermostat shown in you photo, is it on the left or right hand side when you are sat in the car facing forward? The leak appears to be on the right-hand side, although looking at the expansion tank (which is on the left-hand side) there does appear to be some dusty coolant residue on the bottom where the pipe is connected to the expansion tank.
Certainly won't use the car again until I can get it booked in to a stealer.Club Narpy Torch

Ronster: just a quick update on my problem, I took the car across the border from Spain to my local dealer in Gibraltar, it turns out that it is the water pump, the part won't arrive until after the new year but at least not too expensive.
Worst thing is they are saying not to drive it so its stuck there and i could have probalbly fixed it myself and obtained the part quicker from Spain or the UK.Club Narpy Torch
