….and I sprayed copious amounts of brake cleaner into the loom to flush it through without disturbing it. Its about 2 inches diameter. Must over 50 wires in it at least.
Gulp.
[insert double face-palm emoticon]
If it is the non-chlorinated type of brake cleaner you may get away with it but this may not end well. The spices will probably fail first whilst the insulation around the wires will just become brittle. Unfortunately disturbing the wiring to repair splices may be more movement than the now-brittle insulation can take.
I hope fortune is on your side - good luck.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I used a general purpose cleaner, that wasn't just for brakes. TUNAP 215 micro logic Universal Cleaner. dissolves oily dirt, grease and silicone. suitable for cables etc. Hopefully should be ok.

Phew, sounds a bit better than brake cleaner!
If in doubt find a bit of wire you can do without and leave in a glass jar with the concentrated cleaner. If it starts to degrade then at least you will know.

Spilt milk on my back seat once. Vinegar and rinsed through with water to towels placed under it. Not hint since.
Once bust a bottle in the back foot well.
Smell was very nice but quite overpowering. (a 2L bottle of XO cognac)
Went where yours did, along harness rail, just rinsed it with week cloudy ammonia.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Keep the sides square as you go down and mark the paving slabs so they can be replaced in exactly the same spot.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Good result.
You may want to take some of the black tape wrap off the loom for a couple of feet around the front of the passenger seat area, get into the loom, and find the blue taped over splices. Considering how much of a pain it can be when they fail, with spurious faults and errors, it might be a good idea to remake them now?
