Spares to carry
I am about to join the fold- should collect my 55 reg 06my D3 HSE on Friday.
What spares is it worth carrying on a day to day basis? I had in mind a couple of OEM stop light bulbs, a brake switch. Am I missing anything obvious? It needs a coin tray for the fridge so may as well get everything in one go from TLO or Advanced Factors.
Thanks
Mark

Nah, not really...
Good ones and bad ones like owt else... the wealth of knowledge on here is priceless... but don't skint yourself on purchase, don't buy the first you see, get it checked by someone who knows what they're doing, and don't buy from a shady garage...

I've never bothered carrying any spares on a day to day basis other than a few spare bulbs, now that I've gone over to LED's for almost all lamps, they've gone by the wayside too.
Trouble is, you could carry a suitcase full of spares and the chances are, the the first thing that breaks will be the one part you overlooked.
Having said that, a small basic toolkit, a few cable ties and a roll of duct tape can come in handy at times Clive

I carry a toolkit, bodge tape, ties, crimps etc but never any spares. Seems daft breakdown for the sake of a screwdriver or a bit of tape.
Even those blessed with more thumbs than fingers should carry a suitable toolkit as someone may know how to use it!Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I always have a Gerber, a small torch, a roll of insulation tape, a bag of zip ties, a 2m roll of wire, 2x jubilee clips (small and medium), a small selection of 6mm, 8mm & 10mm nuts and bolts, small tin of WD40. Most of it is in an Illy coffee tin in the left hand side panel in the boot. Torch and Gerber in the top glove box.
Iv'e had 2 x D3 for over 245,000 miles, and a D4 since March, and never needed any of it, but you never know....

you read my mind
the best thing I carry is the company fuel card
I do have a set of jump leads and a tow rope stored in where the tow bar sits. The leads came in handy the other day when it was colder. Lots of very short trips shunting stuff around the meadows and pulling cut trees out into the open. I didn't give a second thought that the FBH was kicking in and running a cool down every time I started the engine for 2 minutes.
The tow rope pulled the van out the soup after it came down to rescue me to Narpy Grill, tinted windows, Smooth leather wheel (TLO Group buy), ACM fitted (thanks TLO), Rear door loom and Row 2 & 3 audio switch upgrade, RRS 20" wheel change, 285 Cooper LTZ's Sat Nav Mod (until I get a Faultmate upgrade), Front & Rear lamp guards. 4x4 screen now switched on - Woody32, Follow me home reverse lights - woody32, Auto release EPB - Woody32. Off Road Navigation - Woody32. Remap + EGR's switched off. Full chassis clean and Waxoyl.
