Jacking the Car Made Easy
Why can't I make use of the air suspension to ease jacking a wheel off the ground?
Surely the software could be made to have a jacking mode whereby you could raise the suspension, sink it back down a bit onto a purpose made prop under which ever corner and then raise the relevant wheel off the ground by retracting it? Obviously there would have to be lots of "I agree" safeguards but...
.....please end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

Of course the car does the exact opposite of what you want if you try this - by going to extended mode and "stretching its legs" further Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
When I had the tyres done the other day they insisted the car be put into locked access mode then wheeled their trolley jack under it. When I showed them the handbook insisted on offroad height they couldn't believe it; as they demonstrated, their jacks will only just give clearance when the car goes into extended height, making wheelchanging a bit of an effort.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Volkswagen tourag has this functionality: a low locked position for work on the tires.
My tire company insisted as well on the volkswagen system....

Used to be able to do as described on old hydropneumatic Citroen DS models. Raise the suspension, insert stand, lower suspension et voila one wheel off the ground.
Have had bad luck with punctures so have had two trips to tyre dealer. Seems perfectly au fait with suspension settings. Both times has requested off road heght prior to jacking car.
What a rubbish wheel brace suppied with car. Pin attaching socket to handle through two eyes just snapped under a bit of pressure.

Land Rover recovery boys recommend that you jack the car up from the suspension pickup point so that the car doesn't go into extended mode.2005 Disco 3 TDV6 7 seater. Leather, DVD, fully colour-coded.
