Auto box slipping
HI Guys, I'm looking at a Dec 05 hse auto with 150k on the clock. it has a full service history and is in mint condition but Auto box seems like its slipping. I have read on here that an oil change should fix it or could it be something a bit more serious.. The transfer box oil was changed at 75k but would it need changed again.. Is there anything else that i should be looking at on a vehicle with this sort of mileage
Thanks Gary

It's likely to be the torque converter TBH. Does it make the revs jump a little when it third gear?
Buy some Dr trannys and stick this in gearbox it does work wonders ,loads of members have had good results from adding two tubes to there box you order it from here..

No need to climb under the car. At the top of the radiator on the right as you stand in front of the car there's a small black pipe, undo the jubilee clip and take the pipe off the radiator. Suck some oil out with a syringe and a thin pipe and add Dr Tranny to the pipe. Refit the pipe and secure with the jubilee clip. Job done.
Takes about five minutes using a thin pipe on a medicine syringe. You guys are gonna be busier than a test bench in a plunger factory!

Hi guys, thanks for the comments. Is there any way to test if a torque converter is going. or if this "slipping clutch" feeling can be checked. Igaven't bought this vehicle yet; just looking a few ideas before i do

To answer your question, allow the gearbox to select Top (6th) Gear Lockup - it will do this by 55 mph if you're easy on the throttle. Then load the engine a little (about 405 throttle), even better, get it to climb a hill. Watch the revs, if the tacho wanders from 1,600 to 1,900 ish, the problem is there.
Another test is to select 3rd, then accelerate from about 25 mph fairly hard. This time, the problem will manifest itself as a judder, almost like an out-of-balance prop shaft.Regards,
Mick
