clear windscreen
Guys
This is a really daft question, but I cant get the screen on the D4 I brought a couple of months back clear. If I explain a little more.............
When it rains, the wipers clean the screen, but in on coming headlights I can see something akin to lines that look like where water rivlets have run down the screen, and in between these is a cloudy film. This clears quite quickly if the wipers have more than a few seconds delay between each sweep, but if the wipers are on continuously, then it doesnt clear, which means I'm looking through a murky screen all the while.
I thought it might be from using a wash & wax on the car (as the effect I can see is like where water beads have run off a waxed surface), but have cleaned the screen with washing up liquid (to remove grease), 2 different types of Glass cleaner, some surgical spirit, and so far these havnt worked.
I've never had this issue before, so any ideas - is there a better glass cleaner?
Cheers

I saw this recently but it may be a bit OTT in this case

Martin - new wipers was a thought, but the wipers actually clear the water cleanly, no lines/streaks/etc, its the view directly after the wiper sweep that's the issue. Its like there's a coating on the glass, that then clears a few seconds after the sweep. This means I can see if the wipers are intermittant, but not on continuous.

Try RainX clean the screen then use this it's amazing how much muck still comes off. Might need a couple of coats to get working properly

I'd give it a good go with Autoglym glass polish.
As has already been said, you might find that new wipers help, too. Even though they clear the screen effectively, the rubber does begin to break down after time."The quality remains long after the price has been forgotten."Henry Royce

Only Autoglym Glass Polish seems to work in these situations so it is a no-brainer to recommend it.

its a non abrasive powder that cleans many things but will remove coatings that marr glass.....
..it uses the acid found in Rhubarb I believe....also low cost & works elsewhere in the householdBREXIT - done properly.

Another for Autoglym
I'm still to be convinced there's anything better out there.

Also If you have any clay left over from all the detailing...
You could try that...worked really well on my screen - amazing what it removes from what you think is clean glass.

be serious Crews - me, detailing??
Well just been and tried Vinegar, and even some CIF and a scouring pad - but still there. The CIF does seem to have reduced it a bit, so maybe it does need something to cut through it.

you may have thought that the BarKeepers stuff wasn't the stuff
go on their website & read the reviews - there are may that state the windscreen issue you have
I have used this stuff for years...it isn't abrasive...the powder is like talcum powder...the active ingredient is Oxalic Acid - a natural ingredient from RHUBARB
cleans without abrasion (that CIF & a scouring pad have that may marr the glass irrevocably)
I use it for the cheap French drinking glasses that have been spoilt in the dishwasher....cleaning the stainless everywhere...copper bottomed pans...brass....etc
It WORKS
far far cheaper that Autoglym & just think could a mere glass cleaner be used for all the other uses
please come back & agree with me when you have bought some, used it & realised what you have missed out on.....BREXIT - done properly.

Wife uses Bar Keepers friend and BLF is right...it's very very good...also try vinegar rubbed over the screen using newspaper....old fashioned maybe, but it works "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...
