because i can't leave well enough alone...

I've had this idea since i got my disco, you see.... It's been bugging the hell out of me for a while and i've not been able to find any threads on it so i'll put it to you now;

Q: Is it possible to retrofit/upgrade a none panoramic roof, to a panoramic roof?

I've seen the sunroof headlinings on fleabay and the such for a few hundred skwids, but short of looting breakers and scrappies, i haven't seen the glass roofs for sale anywhere... In fact, i don't even know how/if it's possible to remove them...

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, and if i can get the project out of my head and rolling then I'd love to try making a walk through - talk through of the process for any one else interested.

cheers for your time...

Raff.

It seems like an awful lot of work, and expense. The panoramic roof only really looks good from above. The is only 2 sunroof shape cutouts in the headlining, so not really a panoramic roof Thumbs Up

My D4 has that roof, you don't notice it from inside anyway and I'm too little to see it from the ground but I do get a wee twinge when looking down on it from the Office window Laughing
 Stew,

I would not have a dark interior without the glass roof; it would be too gloomy. As it is my interior is practical and airy. But I do have some net curtain wire to hand...

The metal roof panel can be replaced to one that would accept the glass and the sunroof.

I'd buy a car with it fitted as it would be an expensive job to purchase all the parts let alone the removal and replacement of the roof itself!

Maybe a stupid remark, but isn't it possible to put 3 glass panel sun roofs in it?
Would give the same effect I think.

Glad this thread has started...

..the negative words about HSE's Alpine roofs is dispelled...
you dont just use it you live with it .....a light airy place to be
just brilliant & far better the the double sunroof of the D2...
the sunshades on mine have never been closed.

worth a whole bunch

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

While the sunroof is nice to have, it is not worth the hassle. Blocking drains, rattles and creaks, damaged and split frames are all known issues. Id rather have a non sunroof model!
