Euro 4 EGR blanking

I am preparing for c. 4k mile round trip to Greece at the end of the month.

Sod's Law means that at least one EGR will fail at some time. Like many others I am waiting for Pete Bell's
kit, in the interim the options are:-

1. Do nothing.

2. Blank before I leave - I will have to remove, & hopefully fit Pete's new kit before the MoTT in March next year, I appreciate the warning light will be on, but are there any other downsides?

3. Take a couple of 2p coins with me, and blank en-route if required - this is the least favoured option, and I will be on a tight schedule.

Your thoughts please gentlemen.

I've been there and can't tell you what to do but could explain my experience before having software patch to blank EGRs.
I banked the EGRs and removed butterfly valve(essential to do), it ran ok for 60 miles but less if journey involved downhills or low speed stop start, after which it showed a sequence of faults that resulted in lowering of ride height, no reduction in power.
Ride height was resolved by recalibrating to sit at normal height but height adjustment was disabled and Constant amber EAS light on. Not ideal but will get you home, but not attempted without removing butterfly valve as strongly advised by Pete,
Other alternative is to blank only the offending egr and the rest of system stay standard? I manage to avoid EAs sit down strike as mentioned above by blanking one egr and keeping rest of system standard except using a blank plate with 5mm hole in remains egr. I'm not sure if a real problem egr would set the same sequence of faults of because my testing was done with functional EGRs?
Hope the above makes sense, in short much more desirable to run with software patch and both valves blanked, I seem to remember another site sponsor offering the patch? Post 07 engine software is a pain and seem to vary because blanking on post 07 D3 in South Africa have not had any issues.
A few mods... and keeping it all running...Faultmate MSV2
MY09EGR's blanked Thanks Bellautos, BAS

After me worrying about egr valves and loads of other things to go wrong and spoiling my holiday my d3 behaved perfectly on my last trips to France covering 3000 miles each time. So just enjoy the drive on a great car. Just make sure you have good recovery cover in case the very unexpected happens.
They are more reliable than we worry about

What have EGR and EAS in common? Seems odd that they would be correlated?
