I haven't noticed any extra wind noise on mine (compared to the old HSE without), but then I haven't found the extra length useful either... roof box or bike racks are all I put up there.

Slightly more wind noise,
not particularly useful.

On the plus side:
The Expo rack can (just) be fitted to exended rails without the front support posts.
Slightly better choice of positions for cross bars.

Enables two pairs of cross bars to be fitted, or three, which gives support for long things like oz tents, but ... more than 2 cross bars and you get a huge amount of wind noise as they interfere with each other.

Other rack types eg Prospeed probably wont fit.

May be a tad more wind noise but seeing as I've only had this Disco and had them since new it's difficult to be precise. But it's never been a problem/noticeable.

Very useful in my case as we carry long kayaks and canoes so this just allows us to get the cross bars another 30-40cm forward and wider apart. Less overhang at the back and better support.
