Same question...

is there a ready made place to fit to a D3 that doesn't make it look daft...
have these the controller that sorts the switching & lowering for indicators etc
 BREXIT - done properly.

Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Although I understand there is a stipulation as to position for obligatory drl's in the Roads Vehicle Lighting Regulations 1989. ie drl's fitted on newer cars by manufacturers there is no such stipulation if drl's are retrospectively fitted by owners as an option.

Roads Vehicle Lighting Regulations 1989, Schedule 3, Part 2.

Schedule 3, Part 1. indicates that obligatory drl's may be fitted in pairs in a position that obligatory front position lamps may be fitted which from memory is no more than 400mm from the outermost edge of the vehicle.

This is where I have mine fitted on my D3. They were checked at MOT and were fine.

I have the Phillips DRL 4's with the controller that dims when lights are on etc. Have angled them down since photos as they were a touch bright.

They are not to everyone's liking, personal choice I think. Only one problem is she using CTEK charger through comfort lead or Martin Tow Electrics adapter , they stay on due to voltage change.

Thats because you have them powered from the battery, I had the same problem so I wired them to a fuse in BJB that was live with the ignition on, that cured it, as you say the light controller see's the voltage difference and turns the lights on.

Flack Thumbs Up

Fitted these around this time last year but since removed them as the power controller seemed too sensitive and they started flashing on and off randomly. Not a good look and was easier at the time to just take em off. If anyone has any ideas as to why and it can be resolved I might refit them. There was another member who too had a similar problem, can't remember who now...

Flack, yeh I saw that, I've tried connecting via the plug in front of the rads behind the grille (D4) and direct to battery and had similar issues in both positions, was more of issue on warmer days when presumably the climate control is drawing hight levels of power.
Only noticed though when following shiney cars!
