Just pulling into ramp on eurotunnel car crunched down transmission felt graunchy and special prigs not available - cleared faults but it did it agin on train - tried to read faults and only got body control b1d14 and instrument pack u0159 cleared them but green light still on? Am going to come back to uk hopefully on next train - can anyone suggest what's up?

Fingers crossed all ok now - I'm wondering if the dog had stood on the hdc button the same things would have happened - green light was on after fault clearing but was cancelled when I pressed the hdc button - would I have done any damage reversing with the hdc on? I'm hoping I'm just a tw*t with a lively dog...

I'm sure you can use hill descent in reverse - say you fail a hill climb and need to go back - I'd keep the HDC in Thumbs Up

So, I think we will blame the dog for now...... Whistle

Sounds like accidental use of the HDC button to me - apart from the Special Progs not available message Confused

I definitely am blaming the dog on this one - Stupid place to put cup holders encouraging dogs to try and lick your cappucino lid while you are driving...stupid big yellow button that's dog's paw size etcetc

I did lose the terrain response lights though - suspension went up and down fine - do you need to be in low box for the HDC to work properly. Also can you just bang the HDC on while travelling at about 25-30 mph? Are there any tests I can do to see if anything is working as should?

You don't have to be in low box to use HDC. Yes you can switch it on at any speed, but will only work at speeds below 30 mph, if memory serves me correctly. And yes it does work in reverse, as I've used mine going down a grassy bank in reverse. If you have cruise control you can use this to control the speed of the hill decent speed when engaged.

Cheers

Have you tried to cycle the ignition 3 times? I had the "F" at one stage and other spurious messages, which all went away after a good battery charge. Have you tried a hard reset?

Cheers

Funnily enough I reset the car the day before - I also put led bulbs in the sidelights, but I reckon these may be coincidences.

Anyroad after I got to France (they wouldn't let me reverse off the train - so they took me to France then were going to put me straight back on the next one back without charging me for either trip) I started the car and the HDC light was on so I pressed HDC and it was ok from there on - 350 miles through France with a few stops for this and that.

So hopefully it was the dog - mebbe if you hold the HDC button down it can knacker things (I lost suspension height once but that was cos a bag was resting on the height button when the car was started)

Oh yeah even though Eurotunnel were prepared to put me back on the Train, cos I had the dog with me I would have had to stay in Calais for 24 hrs and get the Pet passport done before I could come back, even though the dog hadn't got out of the car!! - Rabies regulations I suppose so I can't complain)

What does HDC feel like driving at 15-20 MPH on level ground?

You should not notice HDC when driving on level ground. It will just sit there in the background waiting for a steep hill, at which point its feet off the pedals and let it do its job. But unless you are off road or in very bad conditions you will not be popular as you descend at 5 mph!
