Interested in what comes up in here.
I have a Sankey with a lockable lid but would ideally like something newer which is a bit easier to handle and doesn't require the NATO pintle to tow it. But there isn't really much on the market which is suitable and the reasonable side of £1K!
My camping equipment stays in the trailer all year and the trailer will eventually (when I've sorted the gates at the side of the house out) live beside the house so it needs to be secure and robust too.

I've never heard of size restrictions before other than height and no commercials.
My trailer is an Ifor 12x6 and sometimes fully loaded.
The lads even help unload it and occasionally put something aside, wink, wink
It's a newly built Council Tip with all the segregation but no size rules yet... Stew,

Same here, no restrictions as long as your not commercial
The jobs worth ones try their luck by saying you must be working somewhere,
My usual answer to that is
Well how could I afford one of these ( d3) if I was on benefits
But overall they are not too bad and sometimes help empty the trailer

I think that the rubbish tip regulations depend on the council that operates them. Here in Surrey I use two different locations and each has different rules.
The main transfer station takes both trade and domestic waste and has a weighbridge. For this one I have a sticker on the car to prove that I am a Surrey resident. This was issued on my first visit, when I had to produce documentation to prove my residency.
The other site only accepts household waste, not trade. For this one I require a permit to take my trailer which I obtained on-line from the county council web site. They ask what the trailer contains when I arrive and I think that they keep a log. I am not aware of any restrictions on the number of loads I take but I cannot use the trailer for anything resembling trade waste, such as building materials. These are supposed to go to the other site and will be weighed and charged accordingly. However, the household site will allow small amounts of building materials but only if they are in the boot of the car, not in a trailer.

Thanks for the tips on trailers and will start hunting around.
For what it is worth our 'recycling center' is no longer a tip. You now need to take the rubbish broken down by every possible element before they can be disposed of.

Yes our local tip requires the same segregation but I must say the place is modern, spotless, well laid-out with very helpful staff. Indeed, my only complaint is that the recent cuts slashed its opening hours and reduced it to just 4 days a week. It was open every day bar Christmas day, so quite a change. One presumes that some of the helpful staff lost their jobs along the way. Shame.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
