Engine & gearbox software updated

OK further to the hesitation update I had done in June I posted an update in that thread about what I thought of it after a few months http://www.disco4.com/forum/topic91114-198.html

Yesterday I had the very latest standard engine and gearbox software updates applied and I feel as though I have a different vehicle. I've done about 100 miles or so and it is as smooth as silk ...no more uncultured changes, jumping around or feeling that it was in too low a gear at junctions or roundabouts .....this I believe was caused by the supposed hesitation resolver LTB00545. I found that patch bloody awful tbh. MPG appears to be improving also after I went from around 32 to 28 overnight...though I suspect I need at least a week or two to make a formal judgement on that

Anyway I am a very, very happy bunny again and thanks to GSTD Thumbs Up

Guys I'm sorry but I have no idea what the software is and I didn't have time to hang around for him to find out though I will give James a call and ask ...I was just told that it had been flashed with "the very latest" ...I've trawled TOPIx and I can't find a TSB ...but then I don't expect there to be a TSB as this is the very latest "stock" software that service are sent periodically.

My car is off to Duckworth's soon so hoping to give them a steer towards 'the latest'. Hopefully someone will have a name/number/ID for it.

galwaygreen My D4 is a 2013MY built in December 2012. I never felt that I had the hesitation but had the LTB00545 update put on out of curiosity more than anything. While it was more "keen" to go I felt that the box had lost it's sophistication totally ...it seemed to go too far down the box on a rolling approach to juncs so when you put your foot down there was almost an action of engine braking before it suddenly took off. Not pleasant at all.

Overall, I felt that 545a was a cobbled together solution that addressed some issues but actually made a lot more. I went yesterday praying that there would be a positive difference and so far that is proving correct.

EDIT FC ...I do try Very Happy

hi DG
you appear to have same problems as us....ours built july 2013 i think....and with chassis number
68....... its outside the 545v2 bulletin....my dealer was at a loss what to recomend as we have the "latest" whatever that amounts too
going to get hold of pete at lr next week to see if he can resolve the issue......
dont think my dealer is going to do anymore unless LR advise what to do...........
clearly something no right
not stopping us using the car ..just have to watch your back

As a follow up to DG's post. I had the original update done a few months back and it appeared to solve the issue of hesitation for a while, but of late it had deteriorated to the point of being back to square one again. My D4 went in for service last week and I mentioned this to the dealer. he was aware of the problem and applied a fix which as DG stated made the vehicle as smooth as silk. It appears so I was told, that this new fix syncs all of the relevant sensors, so it was not just gearbox software. Interestingly the dealer told me that the same or similar fix has been applied to RRS and FL2's. Thumbs Up

Sorry but I don't think I do at all tbh ...I never had hesitation in the first place but thought that the hesitation patch would be better....it wasn't and I've gone back to stock software. Thumbs Up

How to know if you have the latest Update on your car (engine and GB)? Just ask to the dealer?

Also what is the update number you are referring too that I make sure that my dealer understand my rough Japanese.

Oh and a last one, I have a V8 Engine, does this apply too? (No Diesel in Japan)

Thnks

Spacepig this is about diesel v6 Thumbs Up

There is no TSB type "update" for what I have had done ...I just asked for the latest stock software for the vehicle. I am trying to find out if there is a casual part number for it so others can compare.

I phoned the dealer yesterday. They don't know whether there's an update for my car or not until they plug it in and interrogate it. So it's booked in with their Spanish Inquisitor on Monday.

I've had the "hesitation" fix for a few months but still have problems with it bogging down from a standing start - so hopefully this will finally sort it out - I'll see on Monday.

Yes well worth it Dave, I'm sure it has improved the MPG too, regularly getting 35/36 on the onboard read out before it was barely making 30.. Thumbs Up
