Driving with only fumes in the tank!

Just been to fill up having driven 15 mls on fumes only ("0 miles" on the range display - admittedly not very clever, but my own fault for letting SWMBO drive around in it earlier today Rolling Eyes )... to my surprise, brimming the tank meant putting in just under 88 ltrs.
So, thought I'd ask...
1. As the Owners' manual states 83 ltrs as tank capacity, how come I managed to get nearly a gallon more in? Are filling stn pumps really THAT inaccurate?
2. Has anyone managed to fill up with more? If so, they might know the answer to my last question...
3. How far can you actually get on "0 miles", assuming engine fully warmed up & keeping it around 50mph? Useful to know for when She's next behind the wheel Whistle .

Where in the manual does it list fuel tank capacity? I've looked on LR's owner info site and could find it. Confused

I checked the index before asking too and there's no entry for capacities. Confused

Ok, can someone confirm that I'm not just being dense?

Hit Ownerinfo and check it please? I'm looking at the Discovery 3 Owner's Handbook 2007. (I can't see it in the 2006 one either.)

I'm feeling a little Embarassed right now as I might be looking in completely the wrong place. Shocked

Edit: It's in the 2005 Owner's Handbook under... Capacities.

I don't get why it's not in the 2007 online edition though. Weird.

I was nearly on foot, then Crying or Very sad
So... either the filling pump was way overdue a re-callibration, or D3 tanks actually hold 88 ltrs, & not 83.

Not sure about the website - I was looking in my 2006MY Owners Manual: I think it was on p270, but it's too cold outside now to go & check. Sorry!

Well, in the 06MY book, it was definitely 83 ltrs for the TDV6, although I recall noticing a slightly different figure for the V8 on the text line below. Maybe i'm imagining things - it is late Yawn

I probably should've said "2005 Owner's Handbook online" sounds like I may have been bragging otherwise (nothing to brag about, though I could probably afford to buy the manual if not the car! Wink )

trading standards are pretty hot on petrol pump delivery volumes - so most stations are accurate

The tank capacity doesn't include the volume available in the filler neck. Easily 2 - 4 litres in there you know Shocked

Intersting one. The boss 'borrowed' (read took) the car on Saturday and came back on 'fumes'. Stopped at garage close to home and put 84.5 litres into tank. I thought the capacity was around 85 litres but maybe 07's take more?
BTW, she's been complaining ever since that she had to pay for the fuel - me? I'm keeping quiet. She borrowed (took) it so tough luck Rolling Eyes
