The IID is currently too sensitive to the order in which power is applied and then plugged in. It has been known to corrupt the instrument pack. Contact GAP and they will talk you through a reprogramming of the cluster if they think this is the problem.
Whilst you wait for them to get back to you try a hard reset.

Yes a bit of a shock. Will hard reset when I get home and hopefully hear from gap soon.
I'm sure it can be sorted.

I think a forum member had an IID vs instrument cluster recently that was fixed with a reprogram from the IID. It does not mean that this is your issue, but it could be.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Possibly an issue with the earlier models as they recommend updating to the 2013 IP

It's in the gap documentation that comes with the tool although I have not done it so far. There are other threads on here about it.
Good news is the timed climate you put in is still there. If only I could see it!

ISTR there is a paragraph or two in the manual about what to do if this should happen It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

well my disco has a mind of its own that's for sure.
Back home now so here is the full evening events
mid day get the new IID (thanks to Mrs CC) plugged in, car running and register it
clear a fault on the ambient light sensor fault which i think is linked to a problem i have where the panel lights wont dim. (after reset they did ....for a bit)
anyway. finish that and leave the car.
1900 get in and go to bee keeping (don't ask)
no stereo so whilst we are on the motorway for the 15 mile journey I also find no voice command and no phone so basically audio off.
get there and park up. Mrs CC goes to bee keeping and I have a fiddle (so to speak)
turn the car off and on that succeeds in loosing the center screen totally. no reverse camera, nothing. so i plug in the IID to get the fault codes to post to you knowledgeable chaps and leave it still not working.
2130 come out of bee keeping having posted on here and mailed GAP from the phone only to find that it is all working again. no hard reset.
It had all afternoon to reset itself but was it the second plugging in of the IID that did it? did it just need some time to itself? Who knows
So I filled it up with diesel to say thanks and now have to read up thoroughly exactly how to plug the IID in and I think wait until I have a more serious problem to solve with it before doing it again.
Phew may the odds be ever in your favor

I doubt it as Gap say "This has never been reported to us before". There is a bit in the manual about updating the instrument cluster though and what to do if it doesn't work.

Robbie does this apply to D3's too - only I'm always plugging and unplugging mine whilst running. My electronics background can't see a logical reason for it being an issue, unless it is spiking the comms lines on boot up. But I've never had an issue.Mark.

I had not paid too much attention to the plugging in sequence. I certainly plugged in whilst running but may well have turned the ignition off before un plugging. perhaps that was what I did wrong.
although I am not about to try it again right now.
Oh and can someone point me to where to look for the decodes for the fault codes please.

Seems strange as GAP told me there was a fix planned for the powering-up sequence.
