Shingle question
Has anybody got experience of LR4 driving on shingle, example Dungeness, kent?

French shingle rather than Dungeness: sand mode (remember you have to do the gear shifting after the first one) and keep it moving. I had to drive 1/2 mile along the beach each day to collect the croissants - half sand half shingle low tide, all shingle high tide. never a problem.

As with any natural surface then you should apply some caution. Check for evidence that other vehicles have been there if not then send in small children to make sure theres nothing dangerous like quicksand 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Colin when you doing the drive and why you driving on the shingle. I live down that way and work at Dungeness, could arrange to meet up just in case you get stuck.
On another note please be very carfeul when driving on the shingle as lots of it falls with in the Site of Special Scintific Intrest and there have been a lot of people who have driven on the shingle and then ended up in court with a bifg fine.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Russell many many thanks for the information, just wanted to try my car out on the shingle.
Found the area very intersting, so i thought give it a go, but better ask first, you have put me off,
but when there, there are lots of containers, and what appears loads and loads of junk, just discarded stuff, gives the impression of gipsies camp.
Also quite a few vehicles on the shingle, all over the place

You sound like you are refering to where the fishing boats are, there is a lot of "junk" there and I have been called to a number of serious fires in that area, you would probably be OK driving on the shingle there, the area by the lifeboat station as I do not believe they inforce the SSSI so much there. However as you drive down to Dungeness past the lakes, that area is more restricted and that is where people have been done for driving on the shingle.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

We drove for a couple of mile or so on large shingle \ pebbles without wheel damage ....it's not fun though and very uncomfortable
....... driving at 60 mph for 18 miles along a sandy beach was much more satisfying 8)
