As long as you have two 7 pin sockets, then the reversing lights are fed through the white 12S socket. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

LR genuine towing electrics |
|
Just fitted LR genuine electrics.
Discovered that a plastic mounting plate for the 3 plugs has to be mounted behind the bumper.
To do that it means rear bumper off!! Not shown in the instructions.
I bet the dealers don't take it off, guess they do what I did, push it into a gap!
Unless anybody else knows a better way? New Defender Deposit paid 12/17:-) Lookin forward to Dec 2018.

what are you taking about - 3 plugs?
the 3 plugs on the loom that connects behind the rear light?
You dont have to take the bumper off either the D3 or D4 to fit either the single or dual trailer sockets.

There are 3 plugs and 3 sockets joining the two lomas together that fit onto a plastic board that comes in the kit.
This has 2 screw holes that match up with 2 holes well down behind the bumper.
I cannot see how you can mount this board without removing the bumper. New Defender Deposit paid 12/17:-) Lookin forward to Dec 2018.

OK - well the answer is you dont This board hasnt been fitted on either of my D3's or the D4 - its just LR being over the top. Its not needed. The plugs/sockets just stay in place behind the rear panel, down below the light. They dont move or rattle around.

Thank god i thought i was going mad.
A bit disapointed with my Witter Fixed Tow bar.
The reason why i went for a fixed one rather than a removable one was so i could increase the height of the ball for towing my horse box (Horse like to sit on its bum).
The removable tow bar, she kept falling over.
Wife TD5 tow bar is alot higher than a Disco 3/4 removable hitch. (50mm to be procise).
Removable tow ball sits at 430-450mm from floor.
Witter fixed only does 320mm, 380mm and 420mm.
Defeasts my objective!! New Defender Deposit paid 12/17:-) Lookin forward to Dec 2018.

Hijacking slightly, sorry. I have twin electrics and think I would prefer the newer style 13 pin system. Is it simply a case of rewiring at the socket end, or is there some bizarre LR issue which means the enablement in the software is different? Knowing how temperamental these vehicles are with something as basic as wrong bulbs being fitted, I wouldn't want to end up with a christmas tree dashboard display. Rich

You can just swap the tail end part of the loom and the socket(s) - been done by a few on here who have also seen the light and changed to 13 pin 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
