Is the £1k for 3 years servicing offer from LR or dealer specific?

£1000 for 3 years servicing at a dealer which involves oil and filter change kick the tyres and check the lights. Wheels aren't removed which at 4 years old means they will be seized to the hubs and need to be hammered off with a rubber malet, also means the inside brake pads can't be checked! I really don't get the "a car has to be serviced by a dealer whilst it is under warranty" business. Anyone who gets told this should read block exemption laws and check the quality of some good indies work (whose stamp a lot of people would prefer to see in the service book) compared to the local lr stealer who cut corners to make productivity figures look good.
Just my 2 pence worth

What are the service requirements, is it a firm once per year, or is there any variable option based on mileage and long life oils like I am used to with vw/Audi?
The prices quoted above seem a little incredible if its just an oil change... Even for full services they sound a bit painful...

Wouldn't have their complimentary valet, they wouldn't do it right anyway. [/quote]
Well had my car serviced last week at £392 for its first service at 16k... Dealer was excellent, courteous and completed the jobs with minimum hassle... Got a new RRS as a loan car for the day which was also excellent...
Got back to collect the car just after lunch and slightly delayed as the car was about to have its complimentary valet... Did I want to wait...?? Quandary....
Made the wrong decision....not that I'm OCD about car cleaning but I do like to keep my cars clean.. Car collected got home and had a look..oh dear...I think they must have cleaned it using sandpaper!
Loads of micro whorls where clearly he didn't use enough water and just ground the grime into the paintwork..missed loads of bits and the interior ended up dirtier with muddy smear marks over the door cappings.. He managed to wash my floor mats and actually got them dirtier than they were originally
AAAArrrrrgggggghhhhhh! Got home and had to do it all again.. It's funny how just something as simple as this has now tarnished that dealer in my eyes!!

Sorry but what a load of old rubbish, even in year one the shedule explicitly says remove the road wheels and whilst it may not be rocket science, there is a bit more to a service than purely an oil change and if they don't do as the schedule says then complain.
I think most people probably know that you don,t have to get a main dealer stamp, however, for these modern cars it is highly likely that the second buyer won't have a clue about an indy, especially for those that are changed every year or two so a main dealer stamp could potentially add a significant amount to what you get for your sale in the early years.
When I was buying there was a significant difference in price, one place was looking at £1500 for three years servicing, I bought from the one that was £1000, the car was significantly cheaper as well for exactly the same. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Spookily I think you may be right about the car washer... Would love to come to Fife but its a little far.. Stunning part of the world...
Just slightly annoying leaving all the dirty marks around the interior...
As far as the service goes I know they definitely took the wheels off as the wheels have been rotated.. I know as there is a tiny kerb mark on one of the alloys which has now appeared on the other side...
As a total aside tyre wear on the car has been outstanding... 16.5k miles and all of the tyres are still 7 mm.... Pirellis get my vote for longevity!

Dave, having worked at 2 main dealers for a total of ten years previous to starting my own LR specialist garage I can say hand on heart that most dealers, certainly all the ones i have dealt with in my time on the spanners DO NOT remove road wheels on a first service. Don't believe me then jack yours up, remove the nuts and see if you can get the wheels off without a rubber mallet. We see 3 year old cars with full dealer history that have never had the wheels removed meaning they are seized to the hubs and require a rubber mallet and a block of wood to remove them, try changing a puncture at the side of the road when this is the case. Each to their own, freedom of choice means you can take a car wherever you wish for its service but in my opinion £300 upwards for a first service, dealer or not is ridiculous!
Glad you found somewhere you were happy with farmer and thumbs up for them doing the job properly and removing the wheels

Yes , must say the same as Chalky Farmer, mine had its 1st service yesterday by my local Indy and when giving the 4 a wash today noticed that all my wheels had been rotated, so well pleased.

As much as I love my disco and couldn't be without one. Maintenance costs are high! A 5 series estate with 5y free servicing and a battered series 2/3 for the snow days would make better economic sense, but I can't bring myself to do it! 8) so again I am looking at £3-400 for my 1st year service in the next month or so when I have done 12,500 miles? 2023 Ineos Grenadier 3.0 Diesel Commercial
