As an aside - does using the remote do anything different, like forcing the FBH to operate or does it just operate the same as from the timed climate screen?

I have a supplementary query on this Chaps. And need some urgent opinions for tomorrow please.
My 12MY has factory fitted remote park heating with remote control which only worked 2-3 times last winter and then gave the constant warnings of low fuel or battery which we have discussed before on the site. This was supposed to have been fixed at its first service a few weeks ago.
But I've tried it twice at temperatures below 6 degrees ambiant and on NEITHER ocassion did it wam the inside of the car. The FBH was definitely working on both ocassions.
My Dealer has JUST rung me and said they have checked the car and it is working via the Remote, in that the FBH comes on but they then said IT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO WARM THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. I am certain on the couple of occasions it did work from new that it DID warm the inside of the car.
So anyone got FULL FACTORY FIT remote park heating and is it SUPPOSED to warm up the car interior or not? If it don't fit the third time - try a bigger hammer

yes it is supposed to warm the car ( but there is various conditions that must be met for it to work )
when its heating the inside of the car the red led on top of heater fan control will flash .....no flash means its venting G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Thanks chaps, that's what I was led to believe when I paid out all the money.
And Yes, EVERY time I've used the remote, the Light has flashed on the central AirCon dial BUT rarely has it ever heated the car. And the FBH has always activated. These have always been tests from standing out cold all night long. So no way the engine's core temperature could override things as I know it can.
I also reckon that the Remote system overrides the FBH's own 6 degree or less activation temperature and that is why in the summer the Remote climate is supposed to VENT and "cool" the car. Now surely it can ONLY do that if it it's meant to open the vents and activate the blower to the inside of the car.
So seems like another load of bull it from a dealer
Has ANYONE actually got a factory fit remote system on a 12MY which DOES heat the inside of the car, as I am just now wondering if that function has been deleted on 12MY? If it don't fit the third time - try a bigger hammer

ok, more tests.
if you just open the car and try to vent/heat it doesnt work. However, if i start the engine , then turn the ignition off i can vent and warm.
have set the timer for tomorrow so will see what happens, but ive tried it several times before and it didnt work. we will see tomorrow.... Duncan

Dinsdale, I have a MY12 HSE with factory fitted remote heating. On weekdays I have the timed control set to start at 0810 every morning as I go out at 0830 (the timed climate will only run for 20 mins) This morning my car was frosted up when I looked out at 0800, when I went out at 0830 the car was defrosted and the heater was blowing warm.
If I need to go out in the car at any other time I just push the button on the remote about 30 mins before I go out and when I get into the cat you can feel the warm air. Cheers Ian

I think the biggest problem is the vehicle battery monitor system will kick in before it actually warms the car up
Original d4 was set to 30 mins
Software update to cure issues .. 20 mins
And I believe the 2012 one is limited to 17 mins now .... That's not long enought to warm it up ... And if the BMS cuts in before that it will shut it down earlier G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Thanks All.
Clear to me I have a problem and my dealer doesn't understand how it should work.
Wiggs I even had the CTEK charging the battery to full two nights in a row and it still didn't warm the car inside. So I am not convinced re the BMS. My Volt meter on ignition only didn't drop below 12.8 at any stage. And at least there should have been some heat into the car. However I will take your point to the dealer too thanks.
However I can NOW at least tell the dealer that my setup definitely should warm the inside of the car which is a step forward. If it don't fit the third time - try a bigger hammer

Clive, and anybody else who would like to see it, here is the Heating and ventilation section of the MY2012 Handbook which I mentioned in my PM
http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/use...lation.pdf
from page 3
D4 Handbook wrote:TIMED CLIMATE CONTROL
The system provides a comfortable
temperature inside the cabin in advance of
driver and passengers entering. Dependent on
the external temperature, the system draws in
fresh air to cool the cabin, or operates the
auxiliary heater to warm it.
The auxiliary heater is also operated to warm
the engine and aid starting in very cold
conditions.
The timed climate control system may be
operated by either the touch screen or the
remote handset, Cheers Ian
