same stupid problem...
every morning i use the remote to start the system, and by the time i get to the car (15-20 minutes later) the system is off, and i get a "Timed Climate not available... Please check fuel level... Battery charge my be low" message on the display. this started once the temperature was below 5deg... when it was above 7-10deg in the morning the system worked...
this happens every morning... when i use it in the evening when i leave the office it works perfectly...
the dealer initially said that there is nothing wrong with the car, and a couple of days ago they called saying that the problem is the Negative relay/side from the battery (it's not an accurate translation since they explained briefly over the phone)...
anyway, i will find out more in about 10days when they get the part here... keep you posted...
hope they will fix it... it is kindof frustrating to pay quite a lot for an option that is supposed to bring more comfort in the cold weather... and it does not work... in the cold weather!!!!

i have had the fix ( battery monitor )
all it does is fool the dash display into not showing the low battery sign . Unfortunatly the one on the radio still comes on at the appropriate volts ..so it still shuts down the FBH
I have been doing a lot of testing in the last couple of days ..and yes when the temp is realy low then it shuts down a lot quicker .
Personaly ...i dont think the D4 battery is man enough for the job ..and when cold it looses some of its voltageG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Same with me. Mine had a fix, apparently a software download problem BUT it's only worked correctly 1 out of 4 times and that was after a 2+ hour 90 mph thrash down French and Swiss motorways after ski-ing.
I also put it on a 16 hour charge last weekend and still no luck. So I agree with Wiggs it's looking like a battery power problem and probably an over sensative BMS as well.
I know the FBH is working OK, as under it's own automatic steam it works every time in these cold temperatures but not on the blo dy remote Paid a lot for that and now it's very cold and it's no blo dy good. Haven't managed to get back to my dealer about it yet though.

Mine has had a software update in Nov when fault first showed, no problems for a couple of times, then back.
Now have fitted the Traxide dual bat setup and still no different
See the FFRR had this problem but now seems to of disappeared on the newer model yr, anyone with MY12 D4 having this problem D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

Hi lespes, how long have you had your Traxide kit working?
The “Low Battery†message fix that usually comes with fitting the kit is not a designed feature, just a side benefit but from customer feedback, it usually takes between 1 to 3 weeks after fitting the kit, along with enough driving, for the messages to disappear.
It takes this long for the auxiliary battery to raise the settled voltage of the cranking battery.2008 TDV8 RR Lux + 2009 D4 2.7

Hi Drivesafe,
Has been fitted since mid Dec, (in front) so would of thought that should of been long enough.
Has been quite cold of late and have been doing short journeys with a couple of 50 -60 mile round trips during a week.
Use the timed climate 3 times a week.
The Aux Optima battery is holding a pretty constant charge at around 12.54 (12.4 in cold) according to the Voltage meter fitted in the rear panel alongside the 2 power sockets, when engine running showing 14.5 volts.
The performance of the timed climate had been better, in it has operated for longer than without the setup but now the cold weather is here -2 to -6 performance has dropped off again.
Never had a problem with starting it when message shows, just taking a little longer due to glow pugs being used more at present, but have incorporated an extra lead (like Wiggs) to enable a jump start from Aux if required.D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

Got the D4 back today after several warranty matters including a leaky transfer-box seal and the ongoing "low battery, start engine..." message.
Surprise, surprise nothing untoward found on the battery and alternator. Speaking with the workshop manager he confirmed he believes that all the BMS replacement does is stop the message appearing on the dash. He's seen this on FFRR, RRS and now the D4. Also, in general even though the message has come up, the vehicles don't tend to have any issues cranking and starting.
It would be good to find out from those that have had the BMS unit changed whether if they previously had the FBH cutting out early, this is no longer an issue post BMS upgrade/replacement - Wiggs, any comments?

Iv been in the dealers workshop today with the techs discussing this issue .
They are in agreement that all the BMS upgrade has done is lower the threshold were the warning comes on .
I have found that even if it dosent come on the dash ...when you go to start the car you get the warning on the nav screen
we've tralled through all the info on topix ...and the only glimmer of hope is a software upgrade which is hopefully due out this month .
They lads in the workshop also said it dosent realy affect the starting ( which i dont ever have a problem with during normal use )
They tested my battery and its showing up as ok .
I did put it on charge till about midnight last week ...then set the FBH for 6 am ...and it stayed on for the full 30 mins .
i do think its just a case of the car being such a power hungry monster ...and a mixture of cold weather ...and of course the stupid BMS being set to high .
hopefully ..if and when a software update comes out it will address the touch screen warning aswellG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Must agree with Wiggs. Mine is supposed to have had a software upgrade, but last month, so presumable not the latest one he mentioned. It's very variable and has worked 2 out of 6 and ONLY after a good long run, so its a battery charge level problem, even though the battery is perfectly capable of cranking when the warning shows.
It's got to be the stupid BMS basically plus oversensative programming. If it don't fit the third time - try a bigger hammer

Hi again lespes, if you get a chance, can you note the voltage of your cranking battery just before you start the motor. I’m curious to see how low the battery is discharged when the Timed Climate is used prior ot starting.
Cheers, Tim.2008 TDV8 RR Lux + 2009 D4 2.7

Hi,
Been following this for a while, mine has had problems with the FBH starting on occasion & not on others especially during cold weather, I checked the battery & I thought it was low so charged it but the intermittent starting of the FBH was the same.
Dealer had it in last week & was unable to find anything wrong!
Took it back in today to leave with them for few days for them to monitor & after 2 hours they advise the alternator is goosed! no word on the FBH problem - I assume they are related but would have thought a low battery was more cause for the FBH to not start?
Anyway long & short is that a new alternator is on back order & due 24th Feb earliest so its now laid up in the dealership now I'm waiting for a courtesy car to be delivered tomorrow & the problem there is I need one with a towbar which seems to be mission impossible
