I have the above permanent fault .
have not noticed any thing different ...but im unsure what the steering wheel module is 
Any one enlighten me ? G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

I think the left hand switch pack is a "module" on D4 as it has LIN bus comms to the BCM and cluster? 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

cheers ...i have a couple of spares ...i will swap one over and see if it clears .
It could be the fact that i have adaptive cruise buttons on mine ( not enabled ) and its seeing that as a fault ..although they have been on for 18 months and i cant say i have ever noticed the fault before G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
