Ticking/Clapping Noise Help
Happy new year all!
I recently purchased a Discovery 4. Enjoying very much but noticed in a multi story car park this ticking/clapping noise. It is quite clear in the video and wondered if one of you wise owls might help isolate the issue? I have searched the forum but cannot seem to find a video with the same noise
Many thanks for your help

Many thanks for the manual!
Happily, the car was bought recently. It had an EGR light and now this, so hopefully they will rectify these both under warranty!
I will update

Hello again. The garage seemed to have cleaned the EGR valve, but say they cannot hear the noise (in the video in the first post). Is there any other way to see/check that it is the viscous fan at fault? Would it log a code? Cheers

The temperature may well be a factor.
Was the engine hot or cold when you made the video? The viscous fan (by definition) is affected by temperature.
The garage may have had the engine (fairly) cold.
Get it hot again after a decent journey - does the noise return?

My viscous fan used to do it intermittently when cold. I never bothered changing it, it was fine for the few years I owned it.Kev

Yes it seems to do it from cold, for about twenty minutes. I sense that they didn't want to hear the noise. Good to know that it can function of for a while without causing a dramatic end to the cars life!
I did try rocking it, but it seems pretty solid. There is also resistance when spinning it by hand, which I gather is normal
I may get it looked at by a specialist when visiting the UK, if that is ever allowed again
