I started reading this and thought, how nice, indeed the forum helped immensely when I took the plunge to buy a disco. I was a lurker and in the few months since owning my D4 I've been to Kielder and met some nice people.
But now it's got onto giraffe porn I think I will go back to lurking!

Met loads of people over last 12 months ... every one has been a gent and ready to chat and pass on info and the like ...
Haven't a clue what it was like prior to me joining though .....
I think this place is really helpful D4 Front upgrade/cut back wings n things 'taking a long time but getting there'.
D4 rear upgrade - Narpys helped with that bit
Flack for problem solving and D4 Bluetooth Install/ D4 Heated Steering wheel with Flappy paddles n BBS enabling kit
Disco Mikeys work - Serviced, EGR blanking and 4x4 software upgrade, 3 flash indicators.
B.A.S - FBHIC. Uncle Rays spare wheel protector. Beanie Silver Black badges.

fantastic site with a great atmosphere of cooperation that, despite my obvious limitations with my poor English , everybody always helped me in everything I needed without feeling never ignored lost in translation!

Not many independent car forums are graced with official makers contacts. (that's you Pete if you didn't guess)
This alone verifies the consistent professional approach to this site of both moderators and members.
I have never met any members and maybe never will(if my luck holds out*) but,I have bought and swapped items from members requiring quite a leap of faith as I am not just down the road.
There is ,as with many sites, a core clique but they are open and active with "outsiders" like me.
It is not all plain sailing although I have upset people here less than I do in the "real" world (I am socially abrasive most of the time)
I have tackled fun upgrades using the guides posted
and while members, being mostly male, joke and take the mick* there is real knowledge and assistance available when it hits the fan.
I don't see this balance on many forums
It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.

I use another forum for my Swift caravan and find this forum so much more fun to be on. There is a real sense of belonging and some good banter. As with all forums there are the usual suspects who have nothing better to do and sleep is something they did once, some time ago. They do seem to have huge knowledge of the marque and have helped me so many times I've lost count. I've not been party to any bickering but have seen loads on the other forum. I think the balance here is just right. Long may it continue. FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!
D4 HSE 2012 Like a second wife, more expensive but goes better! I almost cried this time!
D3 HSE 2006 (Almost 8 years together, true love)
Land Cruiser VX 1994 11 years together, wife cried when I p/ex'd for my D3
